Learn the fundamentals of good knife skills from the experts. In this hands-on class, our ZWILLING’s will teach you what makes a quality knife, which knife to use for each task and how to maintain and clean and store your knives.
You will practice the circular rocking motion, the chopping motion, how to dice an onion, supreme citrus fruits, mince herbs and learn how to use a flexible fish fillet knife. From brunoise to julienne, you’ll master a range of essential cutting techniques, making meal prep easier and more fun! At the end of the class, Chef Bernard Janssen will take 10 minutes to go over essential kitchen tools.

Originally from the Netherlands, Bernard Janssen is the Executive Chef and Culinary Program Manager for ZWILLING J.A. Henckels, where he launched the first U.S. ZWILLING Cooking Studio in 2015. With over 25 years of global culinary experience, Bernard is a leading expert in kitchen knife skills and culinary education. He creates original recipes, leads hands-on cooking classes, and represents ZWILLING’s premium brands—including Staub, Demeyere, Miyabi, and Ballarini—at events and trainings across the country. Known for his inventive flavor pairings and elegant plating, Bernard now resides with his family along the Hudson River in New York.
